See it in action
Fretcraft CP brings the chord engine of the Fretcraft app into a real plug-in, with two ways of working. ✦ Generate auto-composes a progression in one of nine styles, with a tension curve, a surprise amount and sections, running through the best-voicing optimizer that picks the smoothest voicing for every chord. ✎ Build lets you stack chords by hand (root + quality): each one is auto-voiced for the smoothest voice-leading from the previous chord, exactly like Fretcraft’s voice-leading lab, and Roman numerals are inferred automatically from the harmonic analysis.
Both modes feed the same pipeline. You can audition with Fretcraft’s plucked-guitar tone (synthesized inside the plug-in), stream the MIDI to the host synced to the transport (two beats per chord, looping), drag the progression straight onto a DAW track with the “Drag MIDI to your DAW” strip — a real native file drag — or export a Standard MIDI File from a save dialog.
Under the hood is the entire Fretcraft engine: the chord and inversion library, music theory with voice-leading and harmonic analysis, and the generator extracted from the app’s Chord Progression Generator. It is the tool for people who want real progressions — not four random chords — inside their project.
And crucially: the voicings are guitar voicings, not piano ones. Chords come out arranged the way a guitarist would actually play them on the neck — not keyboard-style stacks of thirds — with the open strings, the leaps and the colour that make a part sound like a guitar. They sit right in your arrangement immediately.
One plug-in for everyone: VST3 for macOS, Windows and Linux, plus an AU on macOS. Download the build for your system, drop the file into your plug-in folder and open your DAW — no installer, no standalone. On Mac it’s Universal (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Apple-notarized.
